Cheryl Sesnon, Executive Director

Cheryl is passionately committed to empowering individuals to move out of poverty. She is currently the Executive Director of Washington CASH (Community Alliance for Self-Help), a microfinance and micro enterprise training organization in Seattle, Washington. From 1994 to 2000, Cheryl served as the Executive Director of FareStart, a job training program for homeless men and women. Following FareStart, Cheryl spent seven years as a consultant and trainer for nonprofits, working locally, nationally, and internationally. Cheryl has a Masters in Nonprofit Leadership degree and has served as an adjunct professor at Seattle University. Her favorite volunteer activity is working with Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (NPH), where she teaches leadership seminars for directors of orphanages throughout Central America.

Currently Cheryl is on the Board of Directors for the Washington State Microenterprise Alliance and is the Board President for the Seattle Chapter of Les Dames d’ Escoffier.

She was a Nominee for the National James Beard Humanitarian of the Year Award and the MFK Fisher Award. Cheryl recently received the 2009 Aubrey Davis Award for Progressive Leadership. In 2010, Cheryl received the SBA (Small Business Administration) Award for “Home-Based Business Champion of the Year” Award, both for Washington State and the 4-state region.
